Hondros College is your one tool for all your CE needs.
Ohio Continuing Education Requirements
Real Estate agents in the State of Ohio are required to complete 30 hours of continuing education every three years based on the licensee's birth date. Agents are required to complete the R-109 form and send it in to the Division of Real Estate along with copies of all CE certificates prior to their due date.
Required Courses
Nine of the 30-hour requirement must be met through the three state required courses in Canons of Ethics, Core Law Update (or Agency) and Civil Rights Update. The remaining 21 credit hours may be electives comprised of Division approved courses.
Course Options
You are able to take your courses in the Classroom or Online. No final exam is required for online courses.
Note:
Attendance in real estate continuing education classes is mandated by the State of Ohio. Arriving late will prevent you from receiving credit for the course you are attending.
Illinois Continuing Education Requirements
To renew your license in the state of Illinois, you must complete 12 credit hours of continuing education every two years. The expiration dates for real estate agents and brokers are as follows:
Salespersons: April 30th of odd number years
Brokers: April 30 of even number years
Required Courses
You must take CORE A License Law & Escrow and CORE B Agency/Fair Housing. Each course is 3 hours for a total of 6 hours. The remaining 6 hours are electives.
Passing the Class
To complete a continuing education course, you must score 70% or more on a proctored final exam. The proctor can be selected by you and is a disinterested 3rd party that is not related to you by blood, marriage, or any other relationship, which would negatively influence them from properly administering tests. In addition, the proctor can NOT be another Illinois Real Estate licensee. If you don't pass the final examination on your first attempt, you can retake the exam one more time.
Note:
Salesperson licensees who have held their license for less than 1 year prior to the expiration date are exempt from continuing education on their first renewal.
Salesperson licensees who are renewing their license for the first time and have had their license for more than 12 months must complete 6 hours of core/mandatory continuing education prior to renewal.
Broker licensees who did not hold a sales license prior to obtaining their broker license follow the same rules for salespeople as stated above.
