After 25 years of being a cosmetologist, I decided it was now or never to switch up my career. I have always loved the interactions I have with my clients. So, I knew I wanted to get into a field that had that caring aspect to it but on a much deeper and meaningful level. That’s why I chose nursing.
I chose Hondros College of Nursing for many reasons. For starters, it was close to home and conducive to a family schedule. Not only that, but the LPN program was certified and top ranked. Since I started, Hondros has been great to work with and the professors truly want you to succeed.
I am only in my second term, but I think my calling is with hospice care. I want to be there for families and make sure they are taken care of as well during a time of loss. It could be your calling too.
Here’s my advice if you’re thinking about nursing school: learn how to manage your time and study! Also, take advantage of the open labs so you can practice. The professors are great for answering questions. And one last thing, you are never too old to start your nursing career!
Thank you to all the professors and instructors that I have had so far. I wouldn’t be where I am today without their encouragement.
