When I was 13, my papaw was admitted to the hospital. I had no idea that he was gravely sick. Through all the chaos one nurse came into his room, grabbed his hand, and sang Amazing Grace aloud. My family joined in and sang with her. The amount of care, peace, and comfort she provided for my papaw and family; I knew that I wanted to be a nurse in that moment. I wanted to be the nurse who went above and beyond and made people feel like everything was going to be okay.

Hondros College of Nursing was the right fit for me because of the many scheduling options, and the concentrated courses. I enrolled in the Practical Nursing program in 2019, and am now enrolled in the Associate Degree in Nursing program.

If you want to be a nurse, my advice would be to do it! Nursing is such a rewarding career. It is important to stay organized. As a wife and mother of three kids I must be focused and be able to manage my time.

Remind yourself every day why you started nursing school to help you stay motivated. There is no time like the present to start accomplishing your goals. To be successful, I have had to keep pushing forward. My motto is “just keep swimming.”
