A few years ago, my daughter was born with her small intestines outside of her body, a condition called gastroschisis. I was scared to hold her, and I knew nothing about what was going on with her when she first entered the neonatal intensive care unit. The nurses in the NICU helped me step by step.
The nurses gave me plenty of their time and made me feel comfortable to hold her. They helped me become familiar with being a new mom during the five weeks my daughter was in the hospital. This made me want to pursue nursing so I could also help people. It is an amazing feeling to help patients and teach them about medicine.
Hondros College of Nursing made the most sense for me to achieve my goal of becoming a licensed practical nurse. Hondros was recommended to me from friends who had previously attended, and I was drawn to the small class sizes. Once I applied to the college, I was on my way to beginning the program.
If you want to go to nursing school, know you must study! I found making flashcards that could be used anywhere at any time to study was helpful. Also, do not be afraid to ask for help. Hondros has tutors that will help you prepare for exams. Anyone can be a nurse if they put their mind to it. If you study and work hard, it will pay off in the end!
