Why nursing, you ask? My heart beats for service and care. As a dedicated professional, I've spent my career creating and managing programs to uplift underprivileged communities, mentoring students, and fostering partnerships that drive change. My role as a High School Program Manager and Graduation Success Coach has shown me the power of empathy and support in transforming lives. By becoming a registered nurse, I aim to extend this impact, bringing compassionate care and innovative solutions to the healthcare sector and more importantly, traditionally marginalized populations.
I decided to attend Hondros College of Nursing because the length of the program. I was able to pivot from the education field into healthcare in a timely manner, which allowed me to pursue my nursing degree – on my terms – and have the flexibility to work, tend to my family and studies with no pressure.
I’ve had the pleasure of working on campus as a Lab Assistant through federal work study. I enjoyed the opportunity to work in between classes while also prioritizing my studies. While also working within the simulation labs, I learned a great deal of information about nursing interventions in critical scenarios. It was great having a visual example to compare to my in-classroom instruction.
To future students, buckle up! You are in for a life-changing adventure, but the journey is so worth it and the impact of saving or improving lives is everlasting. Nursing school takes determination, discipline, integrity, and grace. However, you can do it and don't be afraid to go after it. All things are possible for those who work for it. Be encouraged! You got this! Take up your space and ask plenty of questions.
