HCN Success Stories

I chose to pursue a career in healthcare because I am driven by a genuine desire to help others, especially during their most vulnerable moments. I’m motivated by the opportunity to make a real, lasting impact on people’s lives whether through providing comfort, improving health outcomes, or supporting patients and families through difficult times. I value compassion, service, and lifelong learning, and healthcare gives me a career where I can grow, challenge myself, and contribute to something bigger than myself. Ultimately, I was inspired by the combination of science, human connection, and the ability to create positive change every day.

I did my footwork inquiring about multiple schools, and when talking to the Hondros staff and recruiters, I realized Hondros was the best school for me. To reach my goals, I consistently demonstrate discipline, perseverance, and intentional focus. I stay organized by planning ahead, setting clear priorities, and breaking big tasks into manageable steps. I show commitment by studying regularly, practicing skills until I feel confident, and seeking out resources whenever I need help. I also show resilience - even when things become challenging. I push through setbacks instead of giving up. I stay open to feedback and use it to improve, which helps me grow both academically and personally. Most importantly, I stay connected to my purpose. By reminding myself why my goals matter, I stay motivated, maintain a positive attitude, and keep moving forward even when the process is difficult.

My advice to someone looking to start their nursing journey would be to go in with a balance of preparation, consistency, and self-compassion. Health care can be demanding, so staying organized from the beginning is key – use planners, break assignments into manageable steps, and review material regularly instead of cramming. Build strong study habits early and don’t be afraid to ask questions or seek help from professors, tutors, or classmates. Don’t forget to take care of yourself! Health care is about caring for others, but you can’t pour from an empty cup. Maintaining good sleep, nutrition, and stress-relief habits are just as important as mastering the content.

I’m proud of the dedication and growth that brought me to this point. Every challenge I've faced strengthened my commitment to becoming a health care professional, and I’m excited to continue learning and making a positive impact. I remain motivated, focused and ready for the responsibilities ahead.
