DIRECT ENTRY ADN Option
Do you have college credit and a dream of becoming a nurse? Or, have you been working hard in college, but now that you’re a couple years in, it feels like you’re going nowhere fast?
Our Direct Entry ADN Option gives students the opportunity to earn their Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), to become a registered nurse, without prior nursing experience, in as few as 15 months if attending full time.
This Direct Entry ADN Option is available at all five campus locations near Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton, Cleveland, and Toledo. Classes begin quarterly.
In addition to Hondros College of Nursing’s admissions requirements, applicants for the Direct Entry ADN Option must:
- Have earned a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher from prior college experience
- Take the HESI entrance exam and earn a cumulative score of 75 or higher. HESI sections include: Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, Grammar, Math, Anatomy & Physiology, and Biology
- Transfer in 32 semester/48 quarter credits of prior college experience. The following category minimums must be met with a total of at least 48 quarter credit/32 semester credit hours across all categories. General education courses must have been taken within the past 10 years, and science courses within the past 5 years, with a grade equivalent to a C- or better earned. Courses that are eligible for transfer credit in the ADN Program may not be applied below.
Natural Sciences (At least 9 quarter/6 semester credit hours)
Course Examples: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science
*English Composition & Oral Communications (At least 5 quarter/3 semester credit hours)
Course Examples: English Composition, Oral Communication
Arts and Humanities (At least 9 quarter/6 semester credit hours required)
Course Examples: Ethics, Foreign Language, Art History, Philosophy, Gender Studies, Literature
Mathematics, Statistics and Formal Logic (At least 5 quarter/3 semester credit hours required)
Course Examples: College Algebra, Geometry, Calculus, Statistics, Logic
Social and Behavioral Science (At least 9 quarter credit/6 semester credit hours required)
Course Examples: Psychology, Sociology, Economics, Communication, Political Science
*English Composition I is required for this component
