I’m currently working as a caregiver at an assisted living facility, and I’m a full-time mommy of four. I decided to get into health care 10 years ago when I knew I had a great passion for giving back to others and taking care of my loved ones. Growing to love my patients as if they’re family makes a difference in their lives and in mine.
I began my healthcare journey back in Alabama, where I started off as a Patient Care Technician. I have an extensive background in patient care within the medical field – including critical care, the emergency department, cardiac, pulmonary, ICU and many more.
I decided to attend Hondros when I moved back to Michigan; I heard a lot of great things about the campus. Ever since enrolling at Hondros, I’ve met some amazing people, and I’ve had the pleasure of helping my fellow classmates. I’ve also grown to meet my lifelong friends who I love dearly.
To anyone thinking of becoming a nurse, I would say to keep God first, always, and pray through the hard times. Staying prioritized and organized will help alleviate stress and uncertainty. In the beginning, I exhibited a lot of frustration because sometimes I wouldn’t understand the literature. That frustration turned into strength and that’s what’s kept me going. Lock in and get it done!
